Xpert FII & FV HET is intended for in vitro use as a quality control to monitor analytical performance of FII & FV detection on the GeneXpert System. Xpert FII & FV HET is formulated to monitor the detection of mutations Factor II G20210A and Factor V Leiden G1691A, the most common genetic risk factors for thrombotic events. Xpert FII & FV HET consists of a suspension of synthetic Factor II and Factor V DNA in a proprietary matrix with preservatives. The kit is comprised of two bottles of Xpert FII & FV Heterozygous Control which contain heterozygous DNA for both Factor II and Factor V. Xpert FII & FV HET is comprised of two bottles containing 0.5mL each of synthetic Factor II and Factor V DNA suspended in a non-infectious matrix with carrier DNA, preservatives and stabilizers.

This gene encodes an integral membrane protein that transports the neurotransmitter serotonin from synaptic spaces into presynaptic neurons. The encoded protein terminates the action of serotonin and recycles it in a sodium-dependent manner. This protein is a target of psychomotor stimulants, such as amphetamines and cocaine, and is a member of the sodiumneurotransmitter symporter family. A repeat length polymorphism in the promoter of this gene has been shown to affect the rate of serotonin uptake. There have been conflicting results in the literature about the possible effect, if any, that this polymorphism may play in behavior and depression.
